Lake Argyle & Katherine (1st - 4th June)

Short drive from ELQ into Kununurra and then onto Lake Argyle, Australia's largest artificial lake by volume.

We also stopped at Zebra Rock Gallery where we had a bite to eat and fed the catfish from the wharf... there were hundreds of them!

The caravan park at Lake Argyle has the most spectacular infinity pool, so our first afternoon was spent in the pool, and we caught another sunset!

Some sightseeing the next day...
  • Ord River Dam
  • Durack Home Museum
  • Deadhorse Spring - waste of time; there was no dead horse and no spring

We ended the day with a fish under the bridge leading into Lake Argyle. Everybody was saying how easy it was to catch something, however no luck for SWAGG.

Will trying to catch "the big one"
On 3rd June we said farewell to Western Australia and crossed over to the Northern Territory. We travelled to Katherine and set up camp at the "Shady Lane Tourist Park". We had a great spot right next to the pool, so we were all able to cool off after a big day on the road.

Gus & Georgie checking out some road kill - according to Gus it was a 1.5 metre
Black Headed Olive Python (is there such a thing?)
Katherine Gorge
Hot Springs in Katherine

Will giving the thumbs up after a bomb into Katherine Springs - it was very peaceful up to that point!
Unfortunately Katherine Gorge did not rate after all the amazing Gorges we have seen in El Questro and Karijini.
