Esperance, Cape Le Grand, Cape Riche & Albany

We arrived in at Esperance needing to restock, re-gas, fill up with water and wash, so it was off to Bushland's Caravan Park. Very dated but Graeme found the golf on Fox so he was able to watch the golf highlights for the US Masters. With Adam Scott shooting 69 in the first round, it was looking good for the Aussie's.

All reports suggested that Cape Le Grand NP, east of Esperance was the spot to camp so we headed out at 7am crossing our fingers there’d be a spot for us; we could not believe our luck when the Camp Host said someone was leaving at 11am; this place was amazing! People line up from 6am to get into this camping ground only to be told they cannot get in, so we consider ourselves very lucky.

This is us parked at 7am hoping to get in - we were lucky to have some campers leaving that morning
For the next three days we swam in crystal clear waters, walked the silica pure white sandy beaches, climbed Frenchman Peake (ok, Will and Graeme did), fed kangarroo's on the beach, were visited by red tailed green finches, wild brumbies (sounds better then feral horses) and loved it!

Frenchman Peak
Will summit's the mountain, however not looking so good!
View from the top... well worth the walk up to the top
Whistling Rock
We saw Lucky Bay, lunched at Wharton Beach (thanks for the tip Paul Jarrett – it was a highlight), almost got bogged 4W dring into Cape Arid, and we finally looked like we were seasoned off-roader's – yep there was red dirt everywhere!

We ate breakfast surrounded by 20 kangaroos at Cape Riche and are now in Albany – that’s Al as in Albania not Allllbury (thanks Vicky Chatterley) and we’ve found ourselves in Happy Days Caravan Park – what a gem!

We wandered through Whale World today and explored the coastline on our way back, Stoney Hill Lookout, The Gap (Sue was not game to look), The Natural Bridge, and The Blowhole (standing too close, Will needed a new pair of undies when it blew and he is still recovering!). It is an amazing coastline and that’s only one part of Albany.

We just heard they have have spotted 2 white pointers at Emu Point , so we are shark hunting tomorrow.
No swimming this week!
