The Centre (24th -28th June)

Left Alice and made our way to Salt Creek rest stop which is approx 100 km's short of Kings Canyon. We left the van there and made our way to Kings Canyon to do the walk... a big day!
Will, Ronan, Gus & Georgie pondering life at Kings Canyon

Next morning we headed to the rock. On the way we saw Mt Connor with lots of people stopping to take photo graphs. Apparently the majority of tourist think this is the rock.

After checking into the resort we heard the rock was open for climbing, so off we went. The climb was unbelievably hard, with Will, Georgie & GI making it to the top. Sue and Gus stayed below and were our cheer squad when we made it back to the bottom.

Sunset is a big thing with a specific car park set up for everybody to drive to and enjoy the moment. There would have been over 100 cars and 10 buses enjoying beers and champagne as the sun went down.

Next morning we were up early to catch the sunrise. Not nearly as exciting as sunset, and it was cold!

Once the sun was up we then went to a Ranger talk and walk around the base of the rock. Very interesting to hear how the T/O's spent their days at the rock.

A cave were the women used to prepare all the food

This is the cave were all the old people of the tribe used to sit - the roof is covered in black ash from their fires
The onto the Olga's...

Walpa Gorge
The trip to Kings Canyon, Uluru and The Olga's was amazing, and the climb up the rock was something we will all remember for a long time.

Tomorrow we head back to Alice Springs, and then drive back up to Tennant Creek and turn right into Queensland for the last leg of the tour.
